National Redbone Coonhound Association
July 1,2 3 Holmesville OH is the place to be for National Days.
I talked to Lynn Stokes in GA. He works swing shift. He's more of a pleasure
hunter. He's been a member over 10 years of this association. He says season
runs Oct-Feb. He said the Armadillos seem to be moving in. They have a few
gators. Snake wise its cottonmouth an water moccasins. It sounded strange that
the coon will eat pecans.
I talked to John Severson. He has been hunting since he was young. He toted a
lantern. Does that tell you how old he is ? He says he has never been color
blind. He had both knees replaced. They straighten his legs up as he was bow
legged. When they done that it throw his hip out of whack. So he waiting for
them to put a hip in next. He has 4 males an 2 females. He pleasure hunts any
more. He did make the circuit in his younger days. He is a Bench Show Judge an
MOH. He said the field trials an water races more less have died out. He said
that the coon population is good. They have the yellow coon with about 15 pounds
being on the big side. Starting to get some coyote. The fox population is good.
They opened season if certain spots for a short time for fox.
I talked to KC Churchill. He sounded rough. He had 4 heart attacks all in the
month of this past August. So he has slowed down running the circuit. He talked
about Flying Jenny as he said she was a good competition hound an a better
pleasure hound. That was interestin.
I had left some messages. Some no longer in service or disconnected. I got a new
one. I got an answer he don't live here no more. Please make sure when you renew
your dues to have all your information correct.
