Mark Lucas had just come in from messing with dogs. He runs the competition circuit at a good pace. Says he's gonna try an make a RQE this coming weekend. He has 2 females. Made one a Nite Champion in days. A third then two firsts. I think he placed her seventh an National Redbone Days last year too. Is that a good streak of luck ? I think her name in McKenzie Mandolin. He even has one grand win on her. I finally got a hold of someone around my age as he is 45. He started with red dogs back in 1992. I got some more notes but I think I don't have enough information to be precise. So I'm gonna leave it at that.
Jeff Huffman returned my call. He had been to a show on Sunday an won a heat with his young dog in a water race. Come final heat he didn't do so well as he got second. He's like 42 started with Reds like 1980. He got a pup form Dorman Clouse. His dad bought it for him. He had a good dog outta Tucker's Mike but got him killed on the road at a RQE. He was a Grandson to Mike. He said he was probably his best He has hopes for this young dog he has now. I believe he has some of that blood of Mike in him. He did hunt the Battle of the Breeds last year but pulled out due to health issues. He drives to hunt Government ground. Most folks don't let you hunt unless your related. It's been like a fall spring as it's been cool with a good share of rain. That should make a good hunting season come fall. He said he heard it's suppose to be a cool summer. Only time can tell though. summer hasn't really started.
Redbooks were out around mid to late May.

Redbook ad ? Why not ? Not much money to put an ad in. Braggin rights or just a picture of you an Ole RED. Just something to think about. It's always nice to have some information for the folks that like to trace bloodlines back. |
