National Redbone Coonhound Association

Well Days is now history.

I left Friday morning later than what I should have. I wanted to sleep in. On the way over I don't think I have ever seen so many police officers. If they didn't pass me by they were taking pictures or had somebody pulled over on the side. It was the holiday weekend too. I think all in all I had to have seen a good dozen. I did check the mileage an it was close to what I had figured. Right around the 200 miles. I did miss the meeting. The way it sounds it went like last year as you won't see any ballots. President is Bob Rose, Vice President is Dewayne Brough an Kitty Brough is he Secretary.

The redbook editor is up for somebody to take. As of this writing it hasn't been spoken for. So maybe you want to take it over.

I talked to Todd Mathewson. A wild storm rolled through the area some days before Days. The only damage he had was minor.

I talked to Gene Allhands. I told him I had talked to O.W. Hill. He said it had been awhile since he talked to him. I made a comment about the hill. He said back in season he had went up one about like that. He said his knees been bothering him some.

Talked to Joanne Doliber. She said it took along time for her to get there. She was traveling by herself. The problem was the flooding up in the Northeast. She had detours an long waits. She said it took less time to get to Brazil IN than to Holmesville. The gas, its a juggle as to what you won't do so you can go with the hounds.

I talked to Mary Ann. Don't think I caught her last name. she had a litter of pups that she was trying to sell. I didn't write the name down. If you know me I'm always seem to be asking about the bloodline. We did talk of that. She said she hauls dogs as far as Texas. The farthest she goes west. The Eastcoast. Her trailer is 20 foot an can haul 10 dogs. It was kinda interesting talking about hauling dogs. I don' think I would want that job. she seems to like it. She talked some of artificial breeding. Which I learned some on that. Its a lot of money. The red tape sign here. You witnessed. This is. All that good stuff is involved. Last year she did take a bunch of supplies to the Katrina people.

I asked John Ingram an Doug Mink how the flies were. They had as many as me. To many !

I did walk some of the trail they used for the dash an field trial. It was an incline. Yeah I know I'm from the flatlands.

I did learn some things from Dale Young as he has been at it quite along time. Water racing, Drag racing an Field trials are miles from me as most clubs around here just hold shows an hunts. I used to go to a practice swims years ago. Kinda liked it too. In away I'm kinda glad we don't have those events. I probably would be officiating in them. Field trail dogs got to want to run. That's what you need is a running dog that can wind.

I did learn something else about Holmes county. That's the biggest Amish settlement in the country. My cousin told me that as he said he's hauled Amish over there 5 times for funerals. That one day I thought they were gonna wear that old Amish fellow out. They had to run the dash race 3 times. There was some confusion. I can't remember if it was the finals or what. It had to be getting to him as he had the job all day. Over the last years I have worked with the Amish. Sometimes we get to busy an they bring them in to help out. I do work with 3 that have been with the company for about 3 years or more.
