National Redbone Coonhound Association
It's been kinda quiet. I image there are folks on the road heading to Autumn
Oaks. I did make some calls though.
Woody Brinson I couldn't get no answer. Justin Duke was at school. Lucious Davis
was no longer in service. William Chervront I needed an area code. I can't tie
the line up because I'm on dial up. Next. James Foshee was an answering machine.
Ray Thacker at first his wife said he wasn't home. I called him on the cell.
Except for one time the reception was good. He has attended about 15 or 20 hunts
as he is start to attend them. He said he shows more than hunts. The number is
the same for going to shows as hunts. He has 2 champions, one with 2 wins an the
other with 3. Got a second place back in June. Has 6 hounds. Their season open
September 15. About 8 or 9 years ago they said the coon population was to dense.
Some say that the coons hurt the turkey population. Which is closed minded in my
opinion. Nature has it own agenda an it's man that try's to change it. Not to
mention the disappearing habitat. It's nothing that I haven't heard hear in
Indiana but its the beagles that get the blame. From what I have heard. He likes
to stay with the Timber Chooper bloodline. He likes a hound that is accurate. He
keeps a hound that suits him. Likes to hunt with the stud dog before her breeds.
The ground around him is rough cut overs an water. As I heard the sound of a
hound in the background I knew it was time to go. He was heading to the woods
with some folks.
I got a hold of John Somonick. He is the only dual Life member of the NRCA an
ARCA. He has had a hound in like 5 or 6 years. Lives in a 2 bedroom apartment.
Goes once in awhile. The other fellow can't hear to well. He used to get hounds
off Fred Moran. Said the hunting ground ain't what it used to be. At 64 that old
hill has gotten higher.
I have been making some shows. If I can get some competition an the hound that
will cooperate. Down at Bryant, IN. They done some work as they added more room
an a porch roof. It does make it look better.
I haven't hit the sweet corn patch right. He planted it later this year. Still
has some standing. Probably had 10 to 15 acres out.
I should know who is the Redbook editor by next time.
