As usual its getting close to that deadline. I did fulfill my duties last Friday
night as I was MOH at a Bench Show. Still haven't really figured how I stayed up
like 23 hours. They say you don't have to be crazy to coonhunt but it helps.
Being on the other side of things I ain't sure what they say. Cause one person
thinks your right on the bench a the others think your wrong. Then there are
times you have to settle things. Usually there isn't no trouble. Ever once an a
while something comes up.
Have you got caught up on the changes at AKC ? For $25 you can hold a Nite Hunt,
Bench Show, Field Trail and a Water Race. Which means if you have all 4 it costs
$6.25 per event. You can hold poor boy hunts, money hunts or trophy hunts. That
is all determined by the membership. If I have read it right it takes 5 cast
wins for a Nite Champion. 10 for Grand Nite champion. 15 for Supreme Nite
Champion. All casts are going out at the same time. All the dogs aren't divided
into Registered or Nite Champions. Then every plus point cast winner gets a
notch toward whatever the title that's being worked for. If you have a judge's
license or MOH from UKC or PKC you can get grandfathered in for AKC. You can
also single register your dog till the end of the year for free. The 2005 World
AKC will be held it Chillicothe, OH. September 26-October 1. 6 nights with a
total of 512 entries. They split an if an odd number they hunt on Tuesday. Then
for an other $75 you can reentry on Wednesday night. Thursday is the elimination
round with those winners advancing to Friday night. The early round Friday night
casts advance ti the late Friday round then those go to the final round
Saturday. The winners purse is $30,000. The entry fee is $100 a has to be
postmarked by August 31.
Well, at this writing gas price is $1.97 in this small town by me. The highest
it was, $2.39 around Easter. I haven't ventured south to see what it is. It's
hard to say. Though it won't stop the diehards it might have some impact on the
others. You never know how it will draw. That is only one of the factors.
Location is another. Yes, the list can go on.
I am planning on being at days. I hope I don't go to fighting the gout again. I
am on a streak which I wish I could break! Once a month since March. The last 2
times I missed a day of work a went to see Doc. I am gun shy as to what this
month will bring. I hope not! You never know how good your health it till
something hits you.
