Still getting used to getting into the swing of writing a column again.
I made it to Bellevue Michigan for the first Tri Fecta. It was hosted by the
Wolverine State Coonhunters. The other two associations were the BBOA and
English. I didn’t ask about the turnout as what they thought might show. One
thing for sure the gas playing companies. It was like $ 2.04 here at home and
two cents higher in Michigan. I know to get to the club you had to travel a
winding cow path. Been awhile since I seen ne of those. You did have to be
careful going in. there were two sets of train tracks that made a slight
incline. They put the feed out Saturday. They started cooking a hog at 1 a.m.
Friday. A fellar told me how they cooked it. It sure was juicy I It sure was
good. Geri Hart judged the bench show. She hasn't worked for UKC for 3 years. I
used to talk to her in the Beagle days. She has done the Michigan State hunt and
the Premier dog show that’s held like late spring or early summer. The show was
held inside. So that made space somewhat limited but not like my den club
because it's smaller yet. The show was a little confusing, as each association
had to meet the requirements for their sectionals. Then I can't remember how
they brought the dogs back for the Tri Fecta. It seems all the winners. I got
into my usual sideline judging routine as well. There were some dogs that really
stood out. The President of the club stood out. Tony Ford the judge at this past
Autumn Oaks, the Friday show. It was good to hear that they send some kids every
year to learn of the outdoors, such as safety and so forth. No matter what club
you’re in it's always good to plant the seeds of tomorrow. Next year maybe you
'II be there. Maybe the weather won't be so breezy and wet.
By the time you read this hunting season will be in all over the country. I got
the urge one night it sure was nice. I do know that this aging process is
weighin on me these days. I'm slowing down. I might take that pup out for a time
or two, as she will be 6 months old in Dec. At this writing the farmers have
been workin. This fall has been dry. I want to say almost as last year. That
made the leaves stick till about December.
Heres the Officers; President Dewayne Brough, Vice President Alien Gingerich,
Sec/Tres Kelly Haynes an the Hunt Chairman is Paul Osborne.
There were 5 proposals that passed for the UKC rules. I'm kinda sketchy on them.
The time will be changed to be like countdown instead of the way it is now. The
age which is a Senior has been moved to 60. Circle points will be deleted in
times. If a handler fails to strike his dog 1st offense is minus and 2nd
scratch. The clarification for deal ling with handlers refusing to declare their
dogs treed.
Well if the good Lords willing I'll be back next month.
