Nothing is worse than having a dog get loose with the chain still on. I have
went through it with the day dogs. Just a couple days ago my oldest night dog
got loose. Chain an all. I had thought she was gone for good. Come feeding time
I heard her. My adventure started with a chainsaw, hatchet an pruners. The first
time I ever got stuck with trees. There were to many limbs blocking the path. So
I backed up while spinning some an hit the gas an plowed right on through. Just
like a running back hitting the hole. I called her an never heard a word. So I
headed to the house an half way I seen her in the ditch. Whew. She met me half
way up as I was half way down. Then pulled the chain like an anchor man at the
end of the line in tug of war. She faired as the wether was 81. I could have
been worse. I'm beginning to think the only way to stop them taking the chain is
get one of those links that screw together. Besides the kennel. Which I have
thought of but haven't ever got there yet.
I talked with O.W. Hill. We talked for about 25 minutes. The phone tell how long
you are on. He had to cut it short because of something otherwise I think we
would have talked more. I asked him of the old dogs, hunting way back then, if
he kept one blood line or ? He is 87 years old. His health has been up an down
in the last 5 years or so. He can hardly see. He said he had 2 barrels of old
magazines. For those that don't know he is one of 62 life members we have.
Hunt wise there have been a few sectionals in June. Of course US Redbone days
the first part of August. As well as Autumn Oaks. I haven't really heard if the
gas game has affected breed days or not. There hasn't been no relief. It's not
hard for me to keep track of the gas price. There are 3 stations on the corner
just feet within my job.
Buzz Buzz goes that pesky little fly. I sit here listening to Hank Williams Sr.
singing Fly Trouble. As you wonder what does that have to do with this writing ?
It is one bad year for fly's around me. They work on one dog then leave another
one alone. It's strange. It's been a battle. I used Off and it's ok for the
short time it last. I sent off an an got some of those fly predators. I am not
to sure they are the right thing for me. They come in a dormant state. They come
out in a few days. You take them an place them around the stools. The thing
there is so much of the dog food market is on the highly digestible feed. It
cuts down on waste. It took till June before I got swarmed. They recommend start
earlier than what I did. They also say that you have some of these predators
already. Something I have noticed as I have delved into the world of
insecticide. They are tricky because you have to watch what you are doing as
well as what kind you use. They got mosquito, tick, an fly control all in one.
If you think about it. That's a good idea. You can reduce the chance of
Heartworm, Lyme Disease an get Red outta Fly Trouble. Just read the label and
talk to the vet !!! From the time I have spent online looking at fly control.
That's Pandora's box but when you go looking it's a given. The thing that
determines the fly population is winter kill. Warm winter more fly's an vice
versa. The triggers that I have found so far is heat an humidity. Here in
Indiana we have high humidity. July an August seem to be the worse as the heat
is too.
I get a kick outta where the Redbone's seem to pop up. Shelton Williams ( AKA
Hank 3 ) has what to looks like a Redbone in his newest release. I haven't been
able to confirm if it is.
Katherine Bolin is writing in Coonhound Bloodlines. She is the what they call
the next generation of writers. So if all you youngsters would write or call her
. She would be grateful. I have told her some things as how column writing is.
Well remember That old track comes back
